Eyin temi,
Welcome to a new week. I hope you had a wonderful weekend with family and friends or alone.
I was praying yesterday and after trying to form the words of my request, I broke down and told God how afraid I was; afraid that he won't give it to me, afraid that I would end up making past mistakes and getting hurt, afraid of my choice. My fear was real. I thought it would choke me.
Then I heard a faint whisper of 'read Philippians 4'. I paused to read and when I got to verse 6-9 I knew I was afraid for nothing
Philippians 4:6-9 NLT reads
Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me-everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
I won't say I'm totally in the clear about my fears (I want to be honest with you guys) but I trust God to give me peace as I tell him about my fears and I want to try (as much as possible) to fix my mind on positive thoughts and things. There is too much bad news in the world right now that it may be hard to do so but I think we all should consciously form a habit of speaking positively and thinking positively.
I wish you all a week filled with positive and peaceful thoughts and words
Sharing is caring guys: Share a verse/quote in the comments that helps you overcome your fears/anixety.
Lovely post. I have learnt not to worry much about thing, especially things I have little or no control over and trust God that has control over all things.
ReplyDeleteI constantly have to remind myself to put and leave everything in God's hands and stop worrying. It's freeing when i do and makes room in my heart to focus on other things.
DeleteThanks for stopping by dear.
Love this - I appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. Philippians has such a good word for believers and I think that verse definitely speaks into my life when it gets hectic and full. I'd also probably turn to 1 Peter 5:6-11, " Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
ReplyDeleteBe alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen."
Hey Leighann, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
