My 2018 goals

Eyin temi,

It is just one more day before the end of 2017. Just one more day before we are hugging each other and screaming 'Happy New Year'. As always, I make goals for a new year, something I want to work towards and achieve in the new year.

My plan for 2017 was to create online content i.e. start a blog and post consistently on my blog and YouTube channel (If you haven't subscribed to my channel, click here to do so. Thanks for the support) and I was able to achieve both. I started this blog on the First of January, 2017. Obviously, there's room for improvement but I started and I'm so glad I did.

The Christmas Tag

Eyin temi,

Christmas is just 4 days away. If you read my previous post 'My Christmas Wishlist', you'll know all the things I want for Christmas. I'm travelling to Lagos to spend time with my siblings and some friends. My friends at Lemony Touch Event Management (@lemonytouch on Instagram) are having their annual charity event tagged 'Touch a life, make a difference' at the Oko-Agbon community in Lagos on the 23rd and 24th December, 2017 and I'm going to be there. We'll be sharing gifts to the children, teaching skills to the women and helping clean the community. So I'm inviting you my dear friends to come and be a part of this great cause.

My Christmas Wishlist

Eyin temi,

Christmas is just 6 days away. Are you super excited? How many of you love the holidays? Let me know in the comments. So today post is my Christmas Wishlist. Some of the things I would love as a gift for Christmas. They may also give you last minute gifts ideas for your family or friends or for ME!!!😉

KUI Tea Tree and Cinnamon Collection || Product Review

Eyin temi,

I found the KUI Tea Tree and Cinnamon Collection on Instagram earlier this year (late March). I was looking for an affordable, pocket friendly and on a budget leave-in spray as I had braids on at the time. I wanted something I'll spritz on my scalp and braids instead of rubbing a leave in cream. So I stumbled on someone's Instagram post on the KUI Tea Tree and Cinnamon Leave-In Conditioning Mist. From that post, I went to the Kuicare Instagram page (@kuicare), read reviews of the products, then their website, found a seller in Ibadan and bought the whole collection.

Henna and Fenugreek Hair Mask Treatment for Hair Growth: First Impression

I have been reading about Ayurvedic Hair Growth Regime online and some of the results I have seen have fascinated me that I decided to try it out on my hair.

Unrealistic Expectation Regrowing Bald Edges || Natural Hair Problems

One of the reasons I cut my hair last year April was because my edges had gone bald and it was pretty bad. My picture was captured at a wedding and my bald edges were on display. I'm so embarrassed that that shot is going to be in their wedding album forever.

Product Review || Shea Moisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Strengthening Masque

Eyin temi,

Shea Moisture is a brand I had always wanted to get my hands on from the beginning of my hair journey. I have read and watched so many product reviews that I was curious to find out if the brand is worth the hype. I finally got the Shea Moisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Strengthening Masque and let me just tell y'all about it.

Marriage and Overcoming Rejection

"Entreat me not to leave you, or turn back from following after you, For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you lodge, I will lodge, Your people shall be my people and your God, my God, Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me1"

I want to get married. It's a dream I have had since I was a little girl playing ‘mommy and daddy’ with my cousins, pretending to cook delicious meals with sand and flowers in my father’s compound.

Recently, I was rejected by a man and it hit me really bad. Like bad bad!!! I wasn't expecting it to happen. This man said he liked me one minute and the next minute, he said he likes someone else more

The Natural Beauty Tag

Eyin temi (my people),

How's August going for you guys? Hope you're having fun and it isn't too cold.

So I found this amazing tag on Anna's blog A Sparkle of Grace called 'The Natural Beauty Tag' and I love it. Anna and Kate (Beauty from Kate) created the tag and with Anna's blessings, I'm answering the questions on my blog.

Daycation at Olumo Rock, Abeokuta

Eyin temi,

Welcome to August everyone. I visited Olumo Rock, Abeokuta in Ogun State last month. I was motivated by Amarachi Ekekwe article '5 Tips to Overcome your fear travelling solo' to make the trip solo and it was amazing, AMAZING!!!!

NEW VIDEO: WIGS, WEAVES AND HEADACHES

Eyin temi,

Check out my new video on YouTube. I talk about the heachaches we get from wearing wigs and fixing weaves and ask 'is it worth it?'

It's my birthday

Happy Birthday to me
I'm grateful to God for another year
To my family and friends, thank you for being good people and loving me
To you my online family and friends, thanks for reading my blog and supporting my work.

Marriage and New wine in new wineskin

'And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the wine would burst the wineskin, and the wine and the skins would both be lost. New wine calls for new wineskins'
I want to get married. It is something I have wanted to do since I was a little girl. My daydreams were filled with meal plans, twins boys, a loving husband and a beautiful home. I'm not a little girl anymore. I'm a grown woman and getting married is still a dream. There are days when it seems like it is just a dream, not reality, other days I have quoted bible verses on companionship, marriage and procreation just to remind myself that marriage is in God's plan for me.

5 Plus Size Ladies who inspire me to love my body

I love my body. Every scar, bulge and birth mark tell a story. Like the scar that run down my tummy tells the tale of when I had to undergo surgery at age 12. I remember my mum told me if I ever got missing, she would easily identify me with the birth mark on my body (my dad had the same birth mark on his body). People haven't always reacted positively to my size. I understand people mean well when they constantly nag me to lose weight but it gets on my nerves and makes me feel self conscious. They sometimes make me feel like my body or size is something to be ashamed of, something I should hide or apologise for.

5 Quotes and Bible verses that uplift me when I'm feeling down

When I feel sad or blue, I read these quotes or bible verses to uplift my spirit and get encouragement to push on and never give up.

I hope that they help you too.

2 of my Favourite Lipstick Shades: Red and Purple

I love lipstick. For me, it is the easiest makeup item to buy and apply. Once I see a shade I like, all I do is rub it on and viola! I know if it suits me or not.

You may think red and purple won't suit you because they are bold colors but I think red and purple work for all skin color (light skinned and dark skinned or in between).

Hello May, April notes and GTB Food and Drink Fair

Hairversary || Product Review: Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair

Eyin temi,

What's popping? Hope y'all are having fun and being productive. If you read my last post on how I care for my natural hair (click here if you haven't), I talk about the Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Shampoo, Conditioner, Deep Treatment Masque and Leave-in conditioning repair cream.

Beauty Review: SAGE & SKIN SPA

Eyin temi,

Hope you guys had a wonderful Easter celebration because I sure did.

I live in Ibadan but travelled to Lagos for the Easter holiday so Good Friday was a good day to be good to myself (so much good in one sentence, lol). I pampered myself to a beauty session at a spa. It was my third time in a spa (the 1st time was for a massage, 2nd time was 'follow follow' but I got a pedicure while waiting for my friend). In this post, I'll share my beauty experience with you and tell you about the spa I went to.

I visited the SAGE & SKIN SPA located at Yaba, Lagos. I called to book an appointment by phone a week in advance because of the holiday (I didn't want to hear 'Sorry ma, we're fully booked for the holiday'). I booked for a facial treatment and waxing and also discussed about writing a review of their service on my blog. They were very glad I wanted to write about them.

Hairversary || How I care for my natural hair

Eyin temi,

Welcome! welcome!! welcome!!! Hope you're having a great week so far. I have a new video on YouTube (totally unrelated to hair talk but a very funny video), click here to watch.

Last week I gave you a background to what inspired me to go natural and my natural hair journey (Click here to read). In this post, I share my personal experience on how I care for my natural hair, products I use and my biggest challenge with my natural hair.

Hairversary || My Natural Hair Journey

Eyin temi,

My natural hair is 1 year this month. Today I'm sharing with you my natural hair journey. I love my hair. Its progress wows me every time. This journey has taught me a lot of things about myself and my hair.

Before I went natural,  I didn't use to take care of my hair. My philosophy was 'If it breaks, it would grow back'. Whenever I had to relax my hair, I bought any cheap relaxer the stylist recommended (except Ozone Relaxer. I used it once and my scalp burnt so bad, I had to rinse it off with ice water). I didn't moisturize my hair or seal my ends. My hair was in bad shape. It was always breaking, I couldn't run my fingers or a comb through my hair without losing a lot of hair. I'm trying to paint a picture for you guys.

Hello April, March Notes and Hairversary

FEHINTOLA OGUNYE INITIATIVE: Health and Career talk for Secondary School Girls

Eyin temi,

March 28th, 2017 was a very good day for me and the girls of Community Grammar School, Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Did you ask why?

I organised a health and career talk for the girls of Community Grammar School, Mokola. Yay!!!

Hello March, February Notes and Tarkwa Bay with TVP

Happy March Eyin Temi,

So last month was really chilled. Highlight of February was my trip to Tarkwa Bay with TVP Adventures (TVP Adventures is a travel company that create tours throughout Nigeria, Africa and the world. Check them out on Instagram, Twitter and their blog).

DIY: How to make coconut oil

Coconut oil
Eyin temi,

When I cut my hair April, 2016, I began to read hair blogs and watch YouTube videos on how to care for natural hair. I found an article on the benefit of coconut oil and I knew I had to have it. Here in Western Nigeria, coconut oil is sold in the local market as 'Idi agbon'. I used it at one point as a child but didn't think much about its useful for my hair or skin. Guys, I think coconut oil and shea butter are the unappreciated skincare heros in Nigeria.

Words of encouragement for the new week

Eyin temi,

Welcome to a new week. Sorry I didn’t post yesterday. Power surge fried my laptop charger and phone charger over the weekend so I had to deal with that yesterday. It’s still not sorted but hopefully by the end of this week, I should get replacements.

This week’s words of encouragement are from a song. I remember the first time I listened to it on my brother’s phone, I must have been 16 or 17 years old and I fell in love with it.

My Dream Valentine's Day Date

Fehintola is definitely B tonight.

Eyin temi (my people),

Words of encouragement for the new week

Eyin temi,

Welcome to the new week. Today's post is a series of pictures I found on twitter. I have found out we (in our 20s) place a lot of pressure on ourselves to to be rich and successful in our 20s that we sometimes forget that we can be rich and successful at ANY AGE.

Words of encouragement for the new week

Eyin temi,

Welcome to a new week. I hope you had a wonderful weekend with family and friends or alone.

I was praying yesterday and after trying to form the words of my request, I broke down and told God how afraid I was; afraid that he won't give it to me, afraid that I would end up making past mistakes and getting hurt, afraid of my choice. My fear was real. I thought it would choke me.

Hello February, I am single!

Eyin temi,

Welcome to February! January ended really fast guys; I’m still feeling dizzy 😵. Someone please give this year a ticket for speeding 😉

DIY: Whipped Shea Butter

DIY Whipped Shea Butter

Eyin temi,

Today I’m sharing an easy to do DIY. It’s the DIY Whipped Shea Butter for hair and skin. Last year, I big chopped my relaxed hair and currently I’m a natural hair girl. It’s been a rewarding and challenging experience which I talk about here.

Shea butter is wonderful. It’s a good moisturizer and sealant for hair and skin. I find that whenever I use it for my hair, my hair is soft and manageable and we all know how ‘unmanageable’ natural hair can be if not properly taken care of.  Plus during harmattan, it saved me from dry and flaking skin especially on my elbows, knees and feet.

So after finding this wonderful DIY online, I decided to do it myself, 😀

Words of encouragement for the new week

smile. baby!

Eyin temi,
Yo yo yo!...Wadup..! (this is part of Jesse Pinkman’s voicemail message)
I’ve been watching ‘Breaking Bad’ all weekend. Finished Season 1 on Sunday, I can’t tell you what I think of it now because I’m still forming my opinion of the show and I want to do so regardless of it been ‘widely regarded as one of the greatest television series of all time’ - Wikipedia. I don’t think it got that after season one.

Words of encouragement for the new week

e be like film trick

Eyin temi,

Welcome to a new week. Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today is Monday, let's do this.

Today's words of encouragement came to me midweek last week. I was overwhelmed with work and I was just thinking of all the things I want to accomplish and how I have prayed, yet I'm still waiting for answers to my prayers.

Weekend Food Craving: Pancakes

Eyin temi,

Hope you’re having a good weekend. My Saturday morning was chilled. I have been craving pancakes since December and this last week that craving was strong like really strong so I decided to make it Saturday’s breakfast (but ended making it in the evening because I lazed in bed all morning). I have flour at home. I purchased it on a whim last year. I prefer to make my pancake from scratch rather than buy the pancake mix in the store. Thanks to my sister, pancake was many a Saturday breakfast

Words of encouragement for the new week

Eyin temi,

DIY: Peel off face mask

Eyin temi (my people)

Hope your weekend is fun and laid back

Today I’m here to share an easy and inexpensive DIY way to smooth and beautiful face. Is your face rough with lots of white 'egusi' like things on it? You should try this mask. All you need are items you’ll find in your kitchen.

I tried this beauty DIY (do it yourself) with my friend, Damilola, and it’s amazing and all we spent was 40naira and the results blew our mind.

Okay enough hype…lol

It’s the DIY (do it yourself) PEEL OFF FACE MASK

Words of encouragement for the new week

Eyin temi (my people),

Welcome to a new week. I want to encourage you this new week with a bible verse that was shared in church on the 31st December, 2016 during Crossover Service.

Happy New Year

Eyin temi (my people),

HAPPY NEW YEAR! ðŸŽ‰ðŸŽŠðŸŽ‰ðŸŽ‰ðŸŽ‰

Welcome to 2017.

I'm always super excited for the New Year because it means a fresh start. My slate is wiped clean when the clock goes from 11:59 to 00:00. The clock is starting again symbolising a new start for me. Yay!

2016 was tough. Nigerians everywhere understand how tough things were with the economic recession. I survived 2016 by God's grace. Prices of food items, household commodities, transportation etc went up. Even prices for appliances went up like a gazillion percent. A washing machine, AC and laptop are still on my wishlist (If God is ministering to you to bless me, hark his voice now and tweet at me).

Anyway enough financial doom and gloom, some nice things happened to me in 2016,
